7 Ways HIMT Goes Green
A comprehensive, institution-wide green agenda — from renewable energy to student-led eco campaigns.
Sustainable Energy Supply
Buildings constructed with energy-efficient windows and panels powered by solar energy. HIMT dorms are equipped with solar panels as an environmentally friendly measure, reducing dependence on conventional grid electricity across campuses.
Electronics Over Paper
HIMT campuses are equipped with computer labs, electronic libraries and online testing programs. Students are encouraged to take notes electronically, reducing paper waste and promoting a digitally focused learning environment.
Eco-Friendly Refectory
Organic food and organic gardening form a healthy, sustainable part of campus life. Individual spaces for organic gardening allow students to grow plants, vegetables and fruits used in the campus kitchen for healthy meals.
Water Bottle Refill Stations
HIMT provides reusable water bottles and water refill stations across campuses, eliminating single-use plastic bottles. This simple, effective initiative helps reduce plastic waste where only 20% of plastic bottles would otherwise be recycled.
Student Green Campaigns
HIMT encourages green project ideas for students, driving concrete actions toward ecology protection — tree planting, street cleaning and environment-themed campaigns. Open communication between students and management helps realise fresh green ideas.
Campus-Wide Recycling
Recycling bins and trash cans are placed across all HIMT campuses. Faculty and staff lead by example in responsible waste disposal, setting a standard for every student in maintaining a clean and eco-conscious campus environment.
Eco-Friendly Campus Rules
HIMT enforces eco-friendly campus rules: switching off unused equipment, LED light bulbs, reduce-reuse-recycle practices, water usage control, purchasing recyclable products, washing reusable utensils, and encouraging walking, cycling and public transport.
Eco-Friendly Rules
We Live By
HIMT enforces concrete sustainability rules across all campuses — creating a culture of environmental responsibility from the ground up.
- Turn off all lights & equipment when not in use
- Use LED light bulbs exclusively across all facilities
- Reduce, reuse, recycle — mandatory waste sorting
- Water usage control — 5-minute shower policy in dorms
- Buy recyclable & eco-certified products only
- Wash & reuse cups/plates — no disposable plastic utensils
- Walk, cycle or use public transport instead of private cars
